Hi there,
I have a requirement where there is a need to create an Inbound Idoc in the CRM system containing a .PDF file attachment.
1) Can and IDOC contain file attachments?
2) If yes which segment woult contain it, or how it should be attached.
The inbound idoc would be created from an XI system.
Regards,
Kiran
Hi Kiran,
IDoc can not contain file attachment. Perhaps BDoc could.
Hope this will help.

Hi Kiran,
Perhaps you can use BDoc (Business Document) between XI and CRM. I never worked with BDoc but one of the way CRM communicates with other system like XI.
Hope this will give you an idea to explore/search more.
Perhaps you can post this question onto CRM area.

Hi Ferry Lianto
thanks for your reply.
If the idoc's cannot contain attachments, in that case how does the outbound of opportunity or order document work which have certain documents attached to them?.
Thanks and Regards,
Kiran

Hi Ravi,
Thanks for your response. But if we use the ITEMFIELD conversion to send the pdf data from XI to idoc, but is it possible to convert ITEMFIELD data back to pdf in the the receiver system ?.

Kiran,
Its not going to be easy. If you plan to use that then
1. Either you need to have two different interfaces one for the IDOC and one for PDF or design your interface to split that and send as two different messages to R/3.
2. Moreover do you want to maintain the PDF as it is in R/3? If that is the case, then you might have to write some Custom RFC which can read the PDF and upload the same and attach the doc.

Kiran,
IDOCS cannot have attachments. However, using ITEMFIELD conversion you can send the PDF data also from XI.
