saposcol not running due to limit exceeded (PF_HARD_LIMIT_DISK)

HI Experts,

I encountered this problem on our production system

I tried all the methods of restarting the saposcol but to none worked.

version 20.95

In the log file i found that the limit no.of hard disks for which saposcol can collect data has exceeded

saposcol starts then in 2-3 mins ends

07:39:47 13.05.2009 ERROR: pfhpuxdisk.c 410: limit exceeded (PF_HARD_LIMIT_DISK)

07:39:47 13.05.2009 WARNING: data with record type (RT_DISK,RST_SINGLE) incomplete

07:39:47 13.05.2009 ERROR: pfhpuxdisk.c 494: limit exceeded (PF_HARD_LIMIT_DISK)

07:39:47 13.05.2009 WARNING: data with record type (RT_DISK,RST_SUM) incomplete

For this i found a sapnote 498112 which said creating a hard disk filter i.e file which will contain hard disks for which OSCOL will not collect data.

But this also dint work

So we switched back to older version.....it supposedly worked....but this not what we want.

The saposcol 20.95 is running fine on development systems!! but not on this

the last option for me is to reboot.....coz rebooting solves most of the problem

SAP release

kernel release 640

kernel make variant 640_REL

compiled on HP-UX B.11.23 U ia64

compiled for 64 BIT

OS

HP-UX 64 bit

nlxsl238:pr3adm 40> saposcol -v

SAPOSCOL version COLL 20.95 640 - V2.7.0 2008-03-12 HP-UX IA64, 64 bit, single threaded, Non-Unicode

Kindly suggest!!

Why don't you go back to your old version of SAPOSCOL until you have the chance to reboot the production server?...

I read the Note and if you have a large system that handle large amount of disks on the filesystem then filtering will be your best option.

Hi Juan,

Well my senior tried that option but still the limit is getting crossed

Where can i view the value of this parameter??

command to view no.of hard disks on HP-UX??

Also on that server 2 PROD CI's are configured

I think you can use ioscan commands to get that info.

Example, ioscan -funC disk
