Maximum Lenght of IDoc Segment

Folks,

I am editing definition of custom IDoc segment and trying to add 5 fields with length of 256 characters each. But SAP gives error message each & every time "Segment length is more than 1000 Character" which dose not allow me to change segment definition.

It is default that we can not change segment length to more than 1000 character or is there any way to change it?

Nope, IDOC data segment can be maximum 1000 bytes
