Are Infotypes global or subjective to specific SAP Modules

Hi All

We are learning Infotypes on HR module, but noone has been able to explain whether Infotypes are global in nature or subjective to a specific Module... example.. can a HR infotype be used while programming code using FI infotypes..

All help appreciated..

Infotypes are basically created and maintained in HR for either for employees or for organization.

Employee specific infotypes comes unde rPA and rest are PD.

FI, SD, etc do have integration with HR and at times used these infotypes to fetch data from HR.

But from your response it is still not clear whether Infotypes can be treated as global.. an example would help .
