Hi,

(DB) ERROR: DbSlErrorMsg rc = 99

Your Database is not running!

Start your Oracle instance first.

Hello Frank, thanks for your quick answer and excuse me for my late answer.

Unfortunately we're 100% sure that the Oracle DB was running and we've clicked the "REPLY" install button in the Master installer screen.

Afterwards the installation fails with the same error - we think the problem is due to the SAP specific profile which needs to be created on the Oracle DB.... but we're not sure.

Did you check that the Oracle listener is running???

Hi,

we've an Oracle specialist inhouse; I was looking with him on the Oracle DB and his comment was, that at least the Oracle (and listener, I think the was 1521) were working correctly, but he wasn't in the condition to explain the problem concerning the SAP installation. So, sorry, we're sure that it was not the listener neither.

Hi Peter,

I've had the same problem. Checking the Oracle Log-File I've seen an error message that one of the characters was not allowed in this connection string.

I remembred a problem I've had earlier on network level with computer names. So I changed the "comuter name" (WindowsXP) from "ABCDE_8_02" to "ABCDE802". After the change the test connect has been fine.

Since the change of a computer name is a significant change I have re-started the installation from the beginning.

Maybe you will have the same problem.

Jurgen

PS: I don't know if the length of 8 characters for a computer name is also significant.

Unfortunately this wasn't the reason neither. We've installed another System on the Server (Windows Server 2003) and decided for a complete new installation. This time the Server stops also at the point 19/43 during the installation, but the error message was more significant:

we've installed without copying the installation files on teh server (that means directly from the DVDs) So the Server had another DVD in his memory (Oracle client, NOT Kernel for Windows DVD) and didn't find an installation file from the DVD. Unfortunatly the error message leaded us into the complete wrong direction. Anyway, many thanks for your held!

By default SAP will look for Oracle listener port 1527 however if your Oracle is installed separately it will by default listen on 1521..

Also host name/IP matters, especially on multiple IPs/VLANs configurations.

Hi Friends,

I am installing SAP NW2004s. I installed Oracle 10g and start the central installation.

When it ask for creating new database or install MCOD database. I select MCOD database.

But when the services installation started then it gives error on Creating Database. This step is 12 step.

And when i again started the installation then it gives error on Creating Database Schema. This process is 12/13 I didn't remembered it exactly.

Hello

I met the same problem with you on platform Solaris10.

(1)check the installation directory. You should check the R3load.exe.log. Maybe you can find the following error message.

Error ORA-1403 when accessing table SAPUSER

(2)Reference note 400241 check the section ora-01403 carefully.

connect to Oracle as sysdba and execute

select count(*) from "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER, if you can't get any record.

INSERT INTO "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER VALUES ('<sapowner>', '<password>');

Maybe this can overcome the question.

At my side, I fix the issue.

Preceed with my privous message.

Remember, As you version is Oracle10/2004s. the SAPOWNER SHOULD BE SAPSR3 NOT SAP<SID>!!! Otherwise, the step "startup instance" will fail and complain the ora-1403 error.

Wish you good luck.
