Client Rename

Dear Experts,

We have around 12Tb of the oracle database on HP UX. We are planning to replicate the same to other hp ux machine with system copy option. After restoration we need to change client ID 900 to 200. With this much big database i can not perform local client copy and delete the 900.what will be the other option to rename the existing 900 client to 200.

Hi Franklin,

for the moment there exists no supported way to "change" the client number without client copy.

Hi,

As per your query you can not apply as you mentioned. You can copy all the existing seting and run your server smoothly.

Its Not possible. You need some additional software such as TDMS, with the help of TDMS you can do that.

TDMS is basically Test Data Migration Server which is used to migrate the data from Production system to Quality & Developement. More information can be found on this thread

And this is because of ... ?

I mean, it is a diffrent box with a diffrent SID.

That should be distinctive enough.

You can change the client number during the Client copy, but in this case it is not possible. You have only one option to go with System copy and on that case i dont think it is possible
