Netweaver Enhancement Pack 1 vs. ERP Enhancement Pack 4

I would like to get some one, or some documentation, that can explain

how the enhancement packs are really designed and packaged for the

various systems.

We were getting ready to install the Netweaver Enhancement Pack 1 on

our separate BW system, and then were directed to note 1177409 (via our

message 0000407421 2009) that tells us we can not install it because

our BW system includes SEM. And that we need instead to install ERP

6.0 Enhancement Pack 4.

We also have an ECC 6.0 system, and do plan to do the enhancement packs

there in the next year. But I had naively assumed that we would do

both an ECC Enhancement Packs for the ECC functionally, AND the

Netweaver Enhancement Pack for the Web AS / Abap / Basis layer type of

improvements that are in it.

But now, from info we have been given, it seems that the ERP

Enhancement Pack is good not just for an ECC system, but for a BW

system too. Is it also good for an SRM system, or a GTS system? We

have those too.

And where would we see documentation for all of the Netweaver / BW

changes being incorporated in to the ERP Enhancement Pack? I donu2019t

see anything about Netweaver or BW mentioned in the ERP Enhancement

Pack 4 Release Note chapters. And I don't want a bunch of marketing

about enhancement packs. I want details of how they are being

constructed for use across various system. (BW, ECC, SRM, GTS, etc.)

You can apply EHP4 for SAP Business Suite 7 core applications:

EHP 4 for SAP ERP 6.0

SAP CRM 7.0

SAP SRM 7.0

SAP SCM 7.0

SAP PLM 7.0

Please check this about EHP4 : https://websmp207.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000623682007E

Thank you. Good links.

Still seems a little vague for BW. You do see reference to using it for BI system in the "how to install" documents, and yet the presentations, as you quoted, don't list a BW system.

I know the new picture has BW embedded in the other systems as well. But ours is not. And not clearly describing BW with the ERP Enhancement Pack 4 makes us uncomfortable.

We were getting ready to install the Netweaver Enhancement Pack 1

Then if you implement EHP 4 for ERP, you will have same EHP1 for Netweaver , in what a problem ?

Per my understanding, you will implement only those components from ERP EHP 4 who you have in the system, like SEM and Finbasis..

Hi Ruth,

Your BW system contains either SEM or FINBASIS. This means that it is no longer a BW system. As stated in Note 1177409:

>Existing NetWeaver BI installations containing FINBASIS and SEM-BW are not supported to install Enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. For these systems, there will be a separate ramp-up for #SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0# (planned start in Q4 2008). All relevant parts of enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 are included in this SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0. Installing the enhancement package 1 for SAP NetWeaver without the aforementioned SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 will result in malfunctioning of the installation procedure and/or the final system state.

FINBASIS and SEM contain elements that are essentially like those in an ERP system, so only the ERP EhP can be applied to them -- and ERP EhP4 conatins NW EhP1.

Best Regards,

Matt

thank you all. We had been referred to a couple of those notes.

I found the 1326576 very helpful. It talks about FINBASIS on BW. and was just updated 5/12/09, so a current topic I guess.
