Input Schedule

I want to understand the Input Schedule tool. What's the purpose of an Input Schedule? On what circumstances a Business User will be using an Input Schedule? Thanks a lot.

Can some one provid a Business Scenario and also useful links. Appreciated.

I read the following from the Help -

Input Schedules

Input schedules allow you to send data directly from your spreadsheet to the databases. Input schedules contain all of the same formatting and functionality as reports. The difference is that reports are used for analysis purposes, and input schedules are used for writing data to the database. Data can be written to base-level members to which you have write access.

Hi,

You can use Input schedulles for example to get Financial statements from group's entities with no ERP, instead of importing a file with BS and P&L you build and input schedulle with the consolidated chart of accounts as entry to your BPC system.

Customers utilize the Input process to load data to an application in BPC. This process may ONLY be perfomed at the lowest intersection point or base memebrs of all application dimensions. The input schedules are used in a variety of opportunities in customer designs. Most often, they are the place of entry for planning and forecasting some combination of dimension data. The data is then stored and aggreagated by the dimensional hierarchies for reporting purposes. The input is sent to a ROLAP partition, so that it is real time for customers in a input process. Most companies, just so we are clear, don't use the input process for ACTUAL data that is collected via an ERP system, but rather for the purposes based on customer/user requirements.

Hi,

we created a input schedule for the following purpose :

we have the employee salary details. like current salary,%increase , total annual salary.

in this % increase is not static. so we want the user entry for this field based on some time line..like

for 2008> 15%, 2009>20%.

if the user entered 20% for 2009, it ll reflect in DB and so total annual salary ll increase for 2009.

this can't be achieved thr' reports. as it wont send data to DB so that no new calcualtion.
