Control UPD2 allocation

Good morning,

We run VA88 (SD settlement) and in each case it finds over 300,000 documents to settle, which is correct. This job starts to produce a large amount of updates that go into the UPD2 processes. The issue we run into is that the number of updates issued takes hours to process and consume all of our UPD2 processes, which is impacting processing of activities such as CRM -> ECC replication. We have found out help pages on update groups, but the information is not that helpful. What methods are available to us to control the usage of UPD2 processes such as say restrict the UPD2 consumption to the server the job runs on or anything else like that?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi,

On a R/3 4.7 system running SD with 1 central instance and 5 application servers (dialog instances ) , we had so much asynchronous updates that I had to set up 16 UPD processes and 14 UP2 processes.

I have 6 UPD and 4 UP2 on the CI and 2 UPD and 2 UP2 on each dialog instance.

After this tuning 2 years ago, the problem was solved...
