Hi Gurus,
I would like to know if there is any change in the way availability check is carried out when we click on the availability icon at the bottom of the sales order and by selecting an item-->Environment->Availability.
If they are different, could you please tell me where are the main controls?

hello, friend.
they should be the same. as in many transactions in SAP, you can execute a function either by following the menu path, or by clicking on an icon/button.
the other button "check item availability" has a connection with schedule lines. running this will coincide with a delivery proposal in the schedule line tabs.

It is same. You can do the availability check at order itself, it is the output of same configuration which you have done in the SPRO.

In Standard SAP, Availability check is carried out by clicking on the availability icon at the bottom of the sales order and also by selecting an item-->Environment->Availability. There is no different between the two operations in the Sales Order for Availability Check.

Hope you would be aware of the availability concepts in SAP.
To answer your question which you asked:
There won't be any difference in carrying out the availability check, if you follow either of the following..
- Menu Path: Environment - Availability
- Clickinn on the Item Availability icon
- Short cut Key Ctrl+F5

The availability check is controlled by checking rule and the way you configured the Availability check. In sales order Either if u click the availability icon or by following the path it will be carried out same.
