Hi,

When a business process is being mapped into SAP, depending upon the nature of products/sales being made the sales org are decided. For example in pharma, I can keep sales org1 for selling Formulations and a second sales org for selling Bulk drugs. The context here is, a formulation is totally different from the way its sold to a bulk drugs. Even the customers, products, way of doing sales is entirely different. Again its how a business would want to structure its process.

A sales can share the same distribution channel as is shared by an other distribution channel. ie if there a dis chan "direct" the same can be used by both the sales org mentioned above.

There are plenty of examples, where more than one sales org is created... and sap recommends to have upto 7 sales orgs under a comp code. However there may be business requirements where the sales orgs may be even 100.

Hello,

It is purely depends on how the business process is running by end client. For instance in Wholesale buisness they always try to keep one sales organisation because sales organisation is the highest entity in Sales and distribution and all the sales relevant data post under this. So if we keep two sales organiation then master data for everything you need to keep two in the SAP system like condition record maintenance, pricing, material listing, subtitution and so on.

When you do a business blueprint first gather their customer business scenarios, business process and business task then when you propose for sales organisation try to keep it as less as one because in future they may extend or merge or acquire the companies that time we can add one more sales organisation into the system. That is what we did these practices in our previous projects. However it is purely depends on client prepective how Client want to see their system but as a consultant we should always think of future expansion in SAP System. Today if you extend everything in the system tomorrow you have to do lot of coding for simple business scenario because lot of interdependency would be created in implemetation projects.

SIVA ,

There is no criteria if sales is made in the organization then sale organization is created. Usually, there can be only one sales organization in a company. A sales organization cannot share any master data with other sales organizations.

If more than one sales organization are maintained then more the master data that we need to maintain we need to have seperate Distribution channels and Divisions for seperate sales organizations.

A sales organization is the highest summation level for sales statistics with its own statistics currency.

Finally the data will be huge. so care should be taken when deciding "Sales Organization".
