We're preparing to do a disaster recovery test on our MII 12.0.4 system. We've prepared a test server that looks just like our DVL server. We're planning on restoring our Oracle backup and copying the ../XMII/root folders from our staging server to the 'DVL-look alike' test server and seeing what happens.
Any other caveats we should be aware of?

David,
Did you do the test already? So, how did it go??
We did a DR test earlier this year. In our scenario, we brought in a DR trailer and re-built the test box on one of the supplied servers. This case assumes that our whole computer room went up in flames.
-Power down and disconnect real test server from the network
- Install OS, Netweaver, MII etc.. per build and IQ documentation on DR test server.
- Stop Instance, restore Oracle DBs (Netweaver and Site MII DB) from offsite RMAN backups.
- Restart Instance.
- Perform some testing of MII applications.
The test went well, we were able to recover well within the required timeframe. We had some minor issues specific to RMAN, but no show stoppers.
I'm concerned that your method of "copying the ../XMII/root folders" will not work as you expect.
