error during determination of backend follow on documents

Hi

We are having SRM 4.0 in classic scenario with R/3 version 4.7.

The shopping carts which get saved result in PO's in the backend (there is source of supply in the form of contracts maintained in catalogs).

But when we try and create backend PO's from sourcing /bidding transaction,it gives an error that "Error during determn of backend follow-on doc. for shopping cart XXXX".

All settings are maintained like:

1. Backend system for product category: For all product category (*) this is set as R/3 backend

2. Documents to be created in backend

3. Transaction type for PO: This is EC and internal number range in SRM is PO.PO number range interval is defined in SRM and R/3 and is the same.

4. PO number range is defined in R/3,

5. Attribute BSA in user: This is maintained as EC at company level.

Please let me know if there is some SAP note etc for this issue.

Hi Srivatsan,

For point 2, please confirm that you did not set a "*" for product category as well as purchasing group.
