Hello ,
An Oil material has different physical properties and at the time of goods movements might require conversions in different other units of measure like L15 (Litre at 15 Celsius), L30 (Litre at 30 Celsius)
etc based on density, temprature etc. This is not the case with core materials. To mark materials as oil we use the fields available in the material master :
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_oil472/helpdata/en/aa/9e063628742a09e10000009b38f839/frameset.htm
To understand how oil materials are handled in IS-Oil & different scenarios involving movements of oil materials refer to :

All Oil&Gas relevant materials will have the 'CMETH' field populated in the material master table MARA.
Based on this CMETH, specific volume conversion routines are called to calculate the volaume of oil&gas material at ambient conditions.

Hi,
All oil and gas material will have Conversion Group defined in the Oil Specific view of the material master.
The filed name is UMRSL and can be found in MARC table
Thanks
