Settings for MTO w/o Variant

Hi,

I am in a process of implementing MTO w/o variant configurations.

i m using Standard Sales Order OR.

I just need guidance that what basic settings do i need to do regarding SD in order to accomplish MTO w/o variant.

I mean item category, schedule line, availablity check etc.
