Dear All,
Please let me know what is the application or use of the transaction COIB in detail?

COIB is used to integrate serial numbered materials with the lower level serialised materials.
suppose u r having FG A with BOM component B & C. all seriall numbered...
then in COIB , for A with serial number 1234 you can assign the Serial number material of B and C ..

In COIB
1) Enter material number and its serial number
2)Click on explode and you can view all the components for which sr. number profile is active .
3) Select sr . number and Click on transfer
4)After doing it for all click on save symbol on right side and set it in either fore or background.( Done)
5)After this exit and re enter COIB.
6)Click on list tree and enter FG code Sr. number (any one) and click on explode
7)You can view information like a particular FG has been produced with prod order and all its Sr. number.
😎 Select all and click on transfer. On right side all FG with Sr. number will be shown as an assignment with Assembly and its Sr. number.

Hi,
COIB is particularly useful in post production scenario. In this case you assign Particular FG in order to Component serial numbers.
One of the limitation is you can not execute automatic selection in PRD order itself as it will consume component with serial number which gets available again . This leads to same number for multiple components.
