FileDownload UI element does not recognize u00E4,u00F6,u00FC u00DF

Hi,

Iam trying to download a file with german language dependent characters ä,ö,ü and ß. The Webdynpro DC has been created in German. The file cannot be opened directly from the FileDownlaod UI Element. The IE popup which normally identifies the application type allots a temporary name to the file and it can only be saved and not opened directly. The file and its contents are ofcourse intact.

Does the FileDownloadUI does not support language dependent characters.

The same problem with special characters which is ofcourse understandable.

Im using SP11.

Regards

MK

Hi MK,

could you please check the following :

-o Go to your Control panel-> Regional Settings / Systemsteuerung-> Regions- und Sprachoptionen(GER), please check whether if the Language / Sprache(GER) settings are to German or so. change them n try again .

-o Is it possible to set the Locale programmatically to set it to German which would then allow to use the umlaut characters like ä ö etc.

Please do let us know if you could solve it.

Rgds,

Sreenivas.

Hi Sreenivas,

All the settings are exactly as u mentioned. The Webdynpro project has also been defined in German.

The problem is when i try to download a file like say "täxt.pdf", the FileDownload UI Element fails to

recognize the application type and as a result, it fails to call the corresponding application to open it.

Had the file been without special characters, it runs smoothly as desired.

It could be a bug with the FileDownloadUI Element.
