Inspection using specifications

Dear friends

We inspect a material normally using a task list (inspection plan) by QP01. But as an alternative we also use inspection with specification. Any advantages of inspecting with specifications and where is this option used. Are there special scenarios where we opt for inspection by task lists or using specifications.

Please guide

thanks

Selva

Hi Selva,

Most of the points have been covered.

For your question Any advantages of inspecting with specifications and where is this option used; please find my understanding on this:

1.The Material Specification (MS) provides a simple template for inspecting a Material across the client. This is particularly important when you have multiple plants and for a material you want certain inspection characteristics to exist for a specific plant and certain inspection characteristics to be same for all plants across the client. In such business you create both MS and IP.While Inspection lot is released; both MS and IP characteristics are assigned with inspection characteristic in MS taking precedence in following manner -

1.If the MIC is common to both MS and IP, MIC assigned to the Inspection Lot comes from the MS.

2.If MIC exists in the MS and not in IP, both MIC get assigned to the Inspection Lot.

For this you need to activate in the QM view of MM both Insp by MS and Task List and create both MS and IP.

2.In addition to the above use; the function of MS can be extended so that inspection results can lead to Batch Valuation.

This is about all; I think.

Thanks,

RAVI.

Hi

Material Specs:

1.are not plant specific.

2.They can only have MICs with Ref or copy model

3.You can not have DMR ,sampling scheme or pocedures.

4.once created can be in multiple plants

5.can not have Inspection points

Inspection plan:

1.Plnat specific

2..You can have MIC,DMR ,sampling scheme or pocedures.

3.once created can not be in multiple plants

4.can have Inspection points
