Hi,

In Competitive scenario while creating collaboration, we will find the option like

1) create New documents or folder within the folder folder

2) Process collaboration (collaboration name)- or assign user(s)

3) Create new work area & assign users

Please elaborate with the example what is the main function if we select the individual option.

Thank you

Regards,

Seema P.

HI Seema,

a collaboration is typically composed of a hierarchy of folders and subfolders in which the different objects required for the collaboration are clearly structured. A folder can contain any number of subfolders.

The objects contained in a folder are called folder objects. For example, following folder objects can be created in a collaboration:

- Documents (any type of file (for example a Microsoft Word or Excel file) can be a document. A document can also be saved in different versions so that you can tell when the version was created and by whom. You can transfer (upload) documents, either individually or in a mass transfer. Mass transfers, for example, are only possible if you have activated the document plug-in in the cFolders user settings by choosing Settings > General, and have set the Special Functions: Plug-In indicator)

- Materials

- Bills of material

and so onu2026

These represent the objects that the various collaboration participants work on and with in a collaboration.

You use a business scenario to contain and structure all objects involved in a collaboration. A business scenario can either be a collaborative scenario or a competitive scenario. A collaborative scenario only contains a public area. All parties involved in the collaboration can access public areas. In a competitive scenario, on the other hand, the scenario owner can create private work areas. If parties involved in the collaboration are competing against each other, for example in a bidding process, competitors cannot access private work areas that belong to others.

By assigning/adding users, they will get authorization for the relevant object. You can define authorization by authorization types, that is by individual user, by user group, or by role. Authorizations in cFolders always contain an object (such as a folder or a document), an activity, and a user. You can assign an authorization for an object to a user explicitly (= Object Authorization), or the user receives authorization implicitly, by inheriting authorization through the roles or user groups assigned to him or her.

Object Authorization specifies what a specific authorization type, for example a user or a user group, is allowed to do for a specific object, that is administer, edit, or read a specific object (for example, a document).

You will find all relevant information in the cFolders Online Documentation in the SAP Help Portal under http://help.sap.com/ -> SAP ERP -> SAP cProject Suite -> e.g. Project and Portfolio Management 4.5 for cFolders release 4.5.

Hi Silvia,

Thanks for your reply but my main question was, what are the main difference between them if we select the particular option.

Still the question is open.

Hi Seema,

Hope you are aware about the regular functionalities of cFolders, especially about the difference between Competitive and Colloborative Scenario.

To start with that assumption, please note following for Competitive Scenario

1. First step will be creation of Collaboration, as u mentioned the Process Collaboration, assigning users are against work areas, which will be post creation of Work Areas.

2. Create new work areas and then assign users accordingly.

3. Third step is creation of folder and documetn hierarchy as per the authorization level and the work areas you have maintained.

Please note that the options are not isolated and they are in sequence. To explain it briefly, first create the collaboration, then the work areas, then assign users, and then create the folder and document hierarchy.

Hope this will make it easy for you to understand it.
