If you are talking about Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) that is performed at the Plant or Storage Location levels, then that is actually in PP and can be used to automatically generate purchase requests to replenish stock based on several different criteria (minimum stock levels, forecasted requirements, etc.)

There is also a method to replenish a WH storage type from another storage type within the same warehouse. This is necessary if you store large pallets of materials in one storage type, and store smaller quantities of the same materials in another storage type:

>Example:

>Type 001 is a small room with counter service where users come to request supplies. This room has small rolling bins that cannot hold a lot of any one material

>Type 002 is a larger room where large pallets of materials are stored on racks

>As materials in Type 001 are deminished, that material is replenished from Type 002

This scenario requires Large/Small picking strategy from Type 001 - which requires additional data on the WH2 view of each material (Maximum bin qty, maximum order qty, etc.)

With these settings, SAP will propose type 001 when a person issues within the limit, but 002 when they excede the maximum order quantity

To replenish, run program RLLNACH1. This will create Transfer Requirements &, depending on your config, can automatically create Transfer Orders and/or confirm Transfer Orders to move the stock from 001 to 002.

Hello John,

Good example. One question though...

If your item is stored in 2 different storage types (in your example 001 & 002), what would your default putaway and picking indicators in the WM1 view of your material master be?

So, upon goods reciept, where would the material be putaway?

Upon picking, where would the material get picked from?

During replenishment, system uses replenishment movement type.

Assign replenishment movement type to reference storage type and then use this reference storage type search in the strategy table.

Hence you will get a seperate startegy for replenishment.

For other placement and picking activity , you can make use of stock placemnet and removal indicator.
