Installation of NW Mobile 7.1

Hi all,

I have a few questions regarding the installation of NW Mobile 7.1.

1) Do you need a dedicated system landscape with development, QA, and production when installing NW Mobile 7.1 or can NW Mobile 7.1 be installed an an existing ECC 6.0 system landscape? What are the benefits or reasons for a dedicated landscape?

2) There is mentioning in the installation guide that NW Mobile 7.1 requires SAP Netweaver Portal for managing NW Mobile. Does this mean you have to install a SAP Enterprise Portal together with the NW Mobile 7.1. Is the EP included in the NW Mobile 7.1 installation or is it a separate EP system landscape?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Wolfgang Berger

Hi Wolfgang,

Sivakumar is right. NW Mobile 7.10(DOE) is a new product offering from SAP and is slated to be the successor of NW MI 7.0. Hence you will need a dedicated landscape(D-Q-P) for 7.10.

The portal in 7.10 is actually not a portal. Its a set of administration tools also called as NWMA(NetWeaver Mobile Administration) developed in ABAP Wendynpro. This comes along with the NW Mobile 7.10 installation. You do not need any special landscape to set up this. Once your installation of 7.10 is over, you just need to configure this and the administration should be up and running.

Best regards,

Hi Wolfgang,

NW Mobile 7.1 is altogether a new product release from SAP and and therefore it cannot be installed on ECC 6.0 landscape which is mapped to NetWeaver 7.0 release.

You do not require portal to be installed in order to use Mobile 7.1. What is mentioned in the guide could be related to Administration portal pages (equivalent to NetWeaver Administrator in 7.0 ) for managing devices in Mobile 7.1.
