Hi

Iam baiscally ABAP consultant trying to know about Solution manager.Can anyone pleas clarify me ...

I read so many posts and documents,but failed to understand what exactly solution manager .

--Do we need to know Basis for SM??

--As per me,SM is like maintaining documents in diff phases of Proj??is there any installation required by SM Technical people??

What is your job role in SolMon? E.g. Project Management, Testing, Release, E-Training, System admin, E2E monitoring, change control management etcu2026

SAP offers many courses on SolMon. Pls. refer sap education services portal.

- If you are choosing E2E Monitoring and administration streamline, yes you need to know Basis

- Yes. It is part of the installation. No need to do any separate installation.

Jawahar,

Basically iam ABAP consultant and i dont know basis ...just know little basis like transports and other stuff..

I had gone thru some documents which teaching me how to create project,maintain resources etc...

Do i need to know CHARM?/what exactly is it?basis knowledge required for this??/

If i want system monitoring/what shud i know..

--yes a little knolwledge of Basis is very helpful in working with SM

--No it's just not maintaining the project documentation, technical/basis is very much involved with SM, read solman installation and configuration guides for SM on service.sap.com

--for learning, refer to above rkt link, select any solman version like SM 7.0, it provides the learning maps...means as every SAP component or product involves both the functional and basis, so with SM too.
