I have a question for those of you that are using Tivoli to monitor the DB2 SAP landscape. The Tivoli system needs a db2ecc user for connection to the DB for monitoring. How are you folks setting this up? Is it a unique user for each SAP system or can you set up a global (LDAP) user and assign it to each group. We stack several instances on one single server/LPAR.
If one user is used, what to you specify for the SYSADM_GROUP in the dbm config?
example
SYSADM group name (SYSADM_GROUP) = DB<SID>ADM
Is this parameter safe to change to a unique ID (some arbitrary group I created for the db2ecc ID) or does it control the actual instance permissions?
Thanks!!
Hi Donald,
I don't think it's a good idea to change the 4 SYS*GROUP settings. Deviating from the standard SYSADM_GROUP assignment may render your instance not startable.
Can you add the user to the group pointed to by the SYSADM_GROUP (i.e. db<sid>adm) in /etc/group instead?
