Splitting application server - database server (R/3 4.7 2.00)

Hi all,

we are going to migrate one of our test systems to a new p6-595 IBM server.

The current system is 1 LPAR hosting appl+database server.

In the new IBM HW I will split appl from the database server, meaning that I will use 1 LPAR for appl. and 1 LPAR for database server.

The move will be done by the UNIX group by copying/splitting the filesystems accordingly.

Apart from changing the hostname in the parameter files I was told that I need to take care of (re)-installing SAP GATEWAY on the LPAR which will host the application server.

However I am confused: How am I gonna do a standalone installation of SAP GATEWAY?

Do I have to use the Installation Masteer DVD for SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 47X200 ?

Currently there is an entry in the DFL profile:

rdisp/sna_gateway = sapbrp23

rdisp/sna_gw_service = sapgw60

which will be copied over.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards.

Loukas

I think you should stick to the guide and split them using Homegenous system copy procedure and install the DB and the CI separetely.

I woule do the following:

Reduce the SAP instance on the DB: ( 5 dia, 1 prioA BTC, updates, ... onlly for admins)

take the CI out of load balancing,

install a big appserver on the other partition and add to logon group.

much easier and safer.
