Hi,
Is it manadatory to give upgrade directory name as "put" in path /usr/sap during upgrade or can we give any name?
Is there any reasons to give directory name as "put" only.
Thanks,
Niranjan.
Sorry to be so late here but the two answer are wrong.
You CAN use a different upgrade directory for upgrading to ECC 6.0, in fact that point is covered in the Upgrade Guide. Of course there are some extra steps to do when begining the upgrade but it can be done.

yes.

R3trans and other upgrade tools must have been designed by SAP in that way to read /usr/sap/put as the upgrade directory!
