Error AA478

Hi Gurus,

Please help me with this issue if you can,

The user set up a new asset with the correct asset class as previously the asset was created with wrong asset class but the depreciation was calculated on the old asset number.

And now the user is trying to reverse the depreciation posted with the Trans ABAA and transaction type 611

They are getting the error message

Posting transaction is not possible (value date not allowed)

Message no. AA478

Diagnosis

A retirement was already posted on the asset 000003000988 0000 on 20090428. Based on the value date 20090423 of the transaction, this transaction should have been included in the calculation of values for the retirement.

System Response

The transaction is rejected.

Procedure

Check the value date of the transaction.

Hi,

Reverse the retirement transaction using AB08. Then, re-do the retirement transaction specifying an earlier asset value date (i.e. 20090101). By doing so, the depreciation posted to the incorrect asset class earlier in the year will be reversed out.

Be careful when you have an asset with several transactions, and you want to reverse a transaction that is chronologically immediately after a negative transaction. In this case, you may have to reverse the negative transaction as well, since the net book value of the asset could become negative after the first reversal.

What's the problem? The error clearly states why the posting is not allowed and how to post it correctly.
