PR overall release strategy (with shared PR document types)

We are asked to configure 'overall' PR release for some of the plants of our client.Now ,we know, this needs to be configured in two places in SPRO. One, in release group definition & two, document type (PR) definition. Our issue is that the doc types involved here is shared by some other plants as well who doesn't need 'overall' release. Is it possible to configure the requirement without disturbing the unwilling plants ?

Inaddition to document type take "Plant" as one more charactersitic , then your requirement can be fulfilled.

In our class characteristics , the relevant plants (which want overall release) are already maintained. Does it mean that now if we allow the release group & doc type related 'overall release' flag to be set , then only for the plants which are attached as characteristics to this release group will be affected for overall release and other plants will remain unaffected even if using the same doc types ?

You were right , once the plant is taken as a charcteristic only those plants will be subject to Release Strategy.

Hi Mukherje,

Take Plant as a separate characteristics in addition to other characterstics, then for overall release document types,not select those plants where you dont need overall release.

And for other document types(not overall released), select the plants where you dont need overall release.

hi,

create separate document type for the two plants by coping the existing one. And assign release stratery for that as you required, this will not effect the exitsting release stratery.

create characterstic for "plant" also and include in the class of release strategy

Yes you can differentiate release strategy for these two plants by adding your plant as a value in characteristics with document type.

Hi ,

The PR release strategy can be done at Item level also ,which has to be set that the PR has to be released at item level and after doing it ,all the item values can become characteristics values for the release strategy

The Plant can be taken as one of the characteristic.

Hi ,

Wat the charaterstic you had taken for PR's , take more charaters like purchase group , plant so that you can make clear classification for each plant .
