Hi Namratha,

Main purpose of using CMS is to transport the source code automatically to different systems.When there is no CMS then we need to manaually deploy the application to different servers using SDM.

In CMS once we assign the SDM port and password while creating the track then there will be no need to give SDM password, it will be automatically verified and deployed to the respective system.

Hope it gives some idea on CMS.

hi,

We use the CMS to perform the following tasks:

Configuration of a development landscape

Configuration and administration of tracks for the development and distribution of software component versions in a development landscape.

Configurtations are done using the Landscape Configurator of the CMS Web UI

Transport of software changes between systems of one track and between tracks.

Transportation of the Software changes is done using the Transport Studio of the CMS Web UI.
