Hello,
I want to do some tests with the Synchronisation Manager. So I downloaded MaxDB 7.7 (because I couldn't find a standalone package) and Database Studio and installed it on a test machine with CentOS. I followed the enclosed example step by step (setup all pathes, added the jar files and started the message server) and got no error, but when I start the Database Studio, I can't find the Synchronization Manager GUI anywhere. My suspicion is that the databse user is the problem. I tried with DBADMIN and with DBSERVICE (I added also a DBM Operator with this name to be able to "Adminstrate" the database) but I couldn't find anywhere the plugin.
Many thanks in advance
Harald
Hi Harald,
the synchronization manager is not integrated into the DB Studio.
You've to start it seperately.
See thread:
or just look into the documentation: [Starting the Synchronization Manager GUI |http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/41/a4574d277b6109e10000000a114cbd/content.htm]
regards,
Lars

Hello,
As mentioned before there is no further development at the moment for the Synchronization Manager.
The Synchronization Manager itself will not be supported from MaxDB Version 7.8.
Because of this the Synchronization Manager GUI was removed from Database Studio.
You could start here to find out what kind of replication you want to realize.

Maybe the MaxDB Loader fits your needs http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/59/025741c0c28447e10000000a1550b0/content.htm

Thanks for the fast reply! The Synchronization Manager is exactly what I need because my customer has to subsideries which are connected via a fixed line, and they want to improve speed and availability by setting up a second database server on the other side for the local users (a standby database already exists). So they need a synchronization of two databases. Is the Synchronization Manager still included in the current MaxDB 7.6 package? And is it possible to synchronize with a SAPDB 7.5, or do I need to upgrade the databases?
Thanks and kind regards
Harald
