sapccm4x does not start "ERROR: Cannot open Monitoring Segment 0 rtc = 255"

Hello Guru's,

here are a new nice issue what have to be solved.

At a ABAP single stack system the sapccm4x agent does not start with the following error...

ERROR: Cannot open Monitoring Segment 0 rtc = 255

Last reported error: [255]  SemInit failed.

System has get a kernel update last week!

we have tried follow...

1) shutdown instance, cleanipc and restart > same error at sapccm4x start

2) tried to start the agent with sapccm4x -DCCMS pf=..... -initshm > same error

3) tried to reregister the agent at central monitoring system > same error

4) updated the agent to latest version > same error

5) repeated point 1 - 3 with the new version > same error

6) searched at sdn and market place for SAP Notes and threads with this issue but only found some with "ShmAlCreate (SHM_ATTACH)" error

whats next?

Hi

what version of SAP are you using and what kernel level have you upgraded.

It seems to be an kernel issue for sure.

please provide your disp+work info, kernel unicode or non-unicode ? agent you have downloaded is non-unicode as seems in your post. and did you download separate ccmsagent file or using the file which came with kernel itself ?

yes, according to the Note, it should work, however, what is the exact error you are getting and which step...while registering or while starting ? check the logs in ccms logs too.

Christian's case seems to be having some problem with semaphore initialization, may be following options can also be tried while registering the agent

sapccm4x -R -nosema pf=<profile path>

As a workaound the agent could be started with the Parameter -nosema
