Hi
CONTEXT OBJECT:Pointer to a specific element with in the message for the future reference.
Context objects and X-path both both are same, but when the X-path is complex to enter then we go for Context object which we define at Mesage interface level.
The Context object or X-path will be used at Receiver Determination and Interface determination level based on our requirement.
Note:Refer to the TBIT 40 .
Thanks

Hi,
XPath and Context object , both are used for almost same purpose to find the specific field in message for referring further for putting condition or some other purpose.
But when message is large and complex, XPath using is bit difficult so we go for Context object.
We create context object for specific field and then using that name further.
In XPath we specify full path and in context object we just specify the name of context object which is created to refer field.

Manisha
