Hello,

Could someone please help me understand the significance of the various options of the following command -

brbackup -c -m all -t online_cons -a -c -cds

What does -cds signify?

What does -a -c signify? etc...

Is there a way by which I can obtain all the possible options for brbackup and brrestore?

Thanks.

Do brbackup -h and it will list all of the options.

-cds stands for copy, delete and save

-a means archive

brbackup -c -m all -t online_cons -a -c -cds is doing a online consistent backup and then kicking off an archive log backup.

Thanks Pravin and Joe.

So, if I give only - brbackup -c -m all -t online_cons

it wouldn't perform an archive log backup, it would only perform an online consistent backup, am I right?

Can I complete restore my system from the above backup?

Thanks.

Just read what -a option does ....

PS: Just saw you edited, and left out -a.

But it's all in the manual ...

It will do a consistent backup and you should be able to use that to restore and recover.

Mind you that you still have to apply the archive logs that were generated during the backup and have been backed by online_cons option.
