MDM has basically 4 components.
1. MDM console - Used for designing a Repository and creating tables, field and setting their properties etc.
2. MDM Import Manager - Used for importing the Data into MDM.
3. MDM Data Manager - Used for cleansing the data and managing the data ( De-duplication, enriching, mass update, workflows etc)
4. Syndicator- Used for Exporting the data to target systems.
I would advice you to go to 1st link and then navigate to the 4 guides for the above 4 mentioned MDM components.
