Hi Imran,

A good start into SAP on Linux, beside looking for compatibility on PAM, is the following SDN site: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/linux. You can find lots of useful information in the sub section 'Key Topcis'.

Important notes are the SAP on Linux Master Note and others which are:

  • SAP software on Linux: Essential comments (Note 171356)

  • SAP memory management for 64-bit Linux systems (Note 941735)

  • SAP memory management for Linux - 32-bit (Note 386605)

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5: Installation and Upgrade (Note 1048303)

  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10: Installation notes (Note 958253)

  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9: Installation notes (Note 797084)

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4: Installation and upgrade (Note 722273)

  • SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8: Installation notes (Note 767814)

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1: Notes on installation (Note 625674)

Hope this helps you.

Kind regards,

Did you unpack the DVDs on a Windows machine?

Try

cd <installation-DVD>
chmod -Rf 775 *

Then try to start sapinst again.

Is you DISPLAY variable set? You can't install without being in graphical mode.

> while i have install java vesion jre1.4.0_12 in /usr/java

That version is not supported.

You need to install

for a 32bit Linux system the Sun JDK 1.4.2

See Note 716604 - Access to Sun J2SE and recommended J2SE options

for 64bit Linux system the IBM JDK 1.4.2

Note 1172419 - Linux: Supported Java versions on the x86_64 platform

Usually it's not necessary to set the JAVA_HOME anywhere but in the shell you're executing the sapinst. In normal cases <sid>adm is not yet existing.

You can do that - it's not a problem.

this is csh (not bash) so you need to use

setenv DISPLAY 10.0.0.88:00

and

What's the output of

You did not put code tags around the postings - try to read them - almost impossible

And:

you don't use a support database version.

If you would have read the installation guide you would have noticed that

- Oracle 10.2.0.1 is not support

- you need to install 10.2.0.1 and update to the latest patchlevel

- you need to install all necessary interim patches for the patchlevel you installed

The version 10.2.0.1 has known bug, serious bugs. If loaded the system with "-loadprocedure fast" it's very likely, that you have corrupt blocks.

Your kernel is crashing:

Did you install and update your RHEL installation to the requirements?

I wrote in a previous reply - do you actually read what I'm writing??

>> And please. put code tags around them if you post logfiles; this means: post the content here, mark the text and press on the << >> sign next to the underline button. This makes them readable.

I would start from scratch - yes.

> which patch i install 10.0.2.2 or 10.0.2.4 ?

Go for the latest patch 10.2.0.4 plus all the interim patches. The necessary notes are in the installation guide listed.
