Reinstalling BO; Keeping old objects, reports - how to

BO XI R2 SP1

DB: SQL Server 2000

I was wondering if someone knows how to reinstall BO (not upgrade) and keep all your old reports/analytics and universes.

What steps do I need to follow to do this? like importing into BIAR file etc or backup of CMS and PM databases....

Just make backup of FRS, uninstall old version, clean directories and registry, install new version, oint it's CMS to original CMS DB (if it's XIR2, create new SIA pointing to orig. CMS if it's XI3)

Point FRS server to location where you saved FRS . Done.

1. Make backup of your FRS directories.

2. Stop all servers

3. Uninstall XI

4. Clean all directories and registry entries left behind

5. Reboot

6. Install version you need

7. stop all servers

8. point CMS to original CMS DB

9. copy frs from backup back to right location

10. start servers

11. done.

Hi Denis - What is the exact location of FRS directories;

Would that be;

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\FileStore

Yes, that's the default FRS location.
