Full text search - Pdf?

Dear all,

In <b>DMS</b> does the <b>full text search supports PDF files</b>.

i.e, if i give a full text search ,does it search in the PDF files too...?

Please brief me.

Hi

Yes, Generally TREX which is used for Full text search and retreival searches the keywords as well as content. The only thing it generally con't search is the executables. If your pdf file is accessible then it should be able to search the information out of it

Thanx for the reply.

People says pdf is a highly securable area,so full text search won't support PDF.

Since i am new to this full text search,I can't convince seniors and they need proof documents.

Check out SAP Note 898208 (TREX 6.1/7.0: Supported File Formats) and 622419 (Embedded Fonts in PDF and Postscript Documents).

Hi John,

There are to types of PDFs.

One is nothing moere than an image. The other is a created one with a PDF writer. This last type should be availeble for text search.
