Hi,
Due to security reasons we had disabled the RSH and enable SSH. After this DBCHECK & Update statistics not working in DB13 which was working perfectly when RSH was enabled.
The error is "22.04.2009 23:00:36 No application server found on database host - rsh/gateway will be used"
We have already changed the parameter gw/rem_start with value ssh_shell (old value was remote_shell)
DB and CI configured on 2 different node.
Kindly help.

Hi together,
in our system the gateway does not recognize the parametervalue SSH_SHELL for gw/rem_start:
Here the ouput of dev_rd:
gateway runs with dp version 139(ext=102) (@(#) DPLIB-INT-VERSION-139)
gateway (version=640.2009.02.03)
ERROR => gw/rem_start : invalid value SSH_SHELL [gwxxprf.c 1043]
ERROR => gw/rem_start : invalid value SSH_SHELL [gwxxprf.c 1701]
ERROR => unabled to start external programs [gwxxprf.c 1791]
I have applied the newest 640_EX2 kernel (PL 287) ...
Any ideas ?
Regards,
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
Have you made any progress with this issue?
I also have this problem.
I believe that for releases < 7.00, that parameter is not available. See sapnote 980266.
It looks like the only solution may be to install a separate gateway instance on your DB server.
I have logged this with SAP, as I don't really want to do that.

Try to check dev_cp log and check the ТСР/IP connections in SM59 , like SAPXPG_DBDEST_SERVERNAME , are works ? Regards.
