Wich version of Solution Manager should be implemented ?

Hi Experts,

We had recently an Early Watch Check and the SAP technical Support told us to implement SAP EarlyWatch Alert service as according to SAP best practices guidelines, because we do not have a Solution Manager on our current system Landscape.

But I was checking the related documentation contained on the marketplace:

And it says that I should install SAP Solution Manager version 7.0, but when I was checking the installation guide for this tool, it says that it should only be installed on Intel-64 bit platforms and we currently do not have 64-bit servers on our company. So is there anything that I can do in order to activate EarlyWatch Alert Service with our current infrastructure?

Current Infrastructure:

Servers with Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition Intel-32 bit.

Well that is what is mentioned in the installation guide for this product, located on:

SAP Solution Manager 7.0 Windows: MS SQL Server:

I send you the paragraph:

"Constraints

You need to consider the following constraints before you start your installation:

n Your operating system platform must be 64-bit.

n You must only use the SAP installation tools according to the instructions and for the purposes

described in the SAP installation document. Improper use of the SAP installation tools can damage

files and systems already installed."

That it's the reason for my doubt.

You are right, if you want to install SOLMAN 7.0 Component SR3 or SR4.

But if you want to install SOLMAN Component SR2, then 32-bit is enough.

Components starting from SR3 can only be installed on 64-bit.

I've checked with my EW SAP executive and he told that in order to implement the Early Watch Check as SAP wants, it has to be with an 64-bit Operating System Architecture.

Hi Erik Espinosa,

I think you misunderstood.

Solution Manager 7.0 is available for Windows intel-32 bit as well as Windows intel-64 bit.

You can download Solution Manager 7.0 for windows intel-64 bit from SAP Service Market Place(SMP).

This is the path:

Download->Installations and Upgrades->Entry by Application Group->SAP Technology Components

->SAP SOLUTION MANAGER->SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0->Installation->Windows Server

->Select the Database(ed., Oracle)->Here you can select the installation files for Database, Kernel, Insatllation Master(51033517_11 - SOLMAN 7.0 Installation Master Windows Server on IA32 32bit - latest).
