Hi all,
I have the following scenario: Mater data team from company code X creates material A with all views (all levels - client, plant, sales org, etc). The master data team from company code Y extends material A to their org. structure. However they are not allowed to change the basic data information of material A. They are allowed to change the basic data of the materials created by them (not extended). Since I cannot restrict the access to the basic data view (maintenance status K), how can I prevent company code Y from changing only the basic data info of material A and still maintain other views? Can I use the field authorization group (MARA-BEGRU) and object M_MATE_MAT? If so, how does this work exactly?
Thanks!
You can restrict the maintenance of certain views by auth. object M_MATE_STA

I cannot completly restrict the access to Basic Data view because both teams need to create and change basic data information. And I cannot restrict by material type because they need to maintain the same material type.
The rule is that they can change the basic data of materials that are created under their org. structure only (local materials) and materials that are traded between company codes. So company Y cannot change the basic data of material A because material A is local to company code X (not traded).
Itu2019s almost like I need to add some restriction in the material master, when it is being created. Thatu2019s why I thought about field MARA-BEGRU but I am not sure if this field affects all views or just basic data views (client level).

The basic data does not belong to any organisation, hence you cannot restrict its maintenance based on organisations.
I can understand what you want to say with local materials, but your goal cannot be reached.
In SAP standard it is possible that one team creates just the basic data view, while the departments create their own view. So the basic data view can exist without any organisational data maintained. Hence you cannot restrict its maintenance based on non-available data..
you may have to change organisation and the way you are used to maintain materials.
Hi
You can create a new screen sequence for a material master and assign to required users. In that screen sequence remove Basic data-1 and Basic data-2. See the below config
Logistic general---> materail master --->Configaring material master
Create a user specific Screen sequence
Help text in every nod is help full to configure.
