Dear Frnds,
We are planning to do a os/db migration of our BI7.0 system which is currently running on OS400 with DB2 to windows/oracle.
Currently we are in iseries h/w machine.
The current database size of the BI system is 1.8terabyte.
I would like to know risk and mitigation involved in this. If anybody done these kind of migration, pls leave ur valuable suggestions here.
We are planning to perform heterogenous system copy, is it the right way?
I am worried abt the database size. How long ll it take?
Thanks,
Jegan.s
Thx for Manoj and Debasis.
Manoj: I already gone through system copy docs.
But i need more information on the issues of heterogenous system copy for BI.
Debasis: We dont have certified consultant to do the migration.
I need some valuable inputs from the friends those who already done the OS DB migration.
Like the possible errors we may face during the migration.

Hi Jegan,
Suggested to go for a trial migration if possible (making a sandbox), you can find out whats the actual time it takes. As heterogeneous system copy is a complex procedure, you need tweak certain parameters.. use migmon advance features to reduce the downtime.
For migration, you would need a SAP certified migration consultant who has the knowledge to do this.

Debasis.

Hi,
Hetrogeneous copy is the right option and hardware systems configuration would have impact on the actual migration time.
You may find system copy documents in the following link just in case you have not seen this link before.
