Maintainence projects

Dear Experts.............

I need inputs of Maintainence projects.

how they will be mapped in PS......

Whether PM module will interact in this process.

For example im having projects with three level wbs.

in this third level wbs i want to use as maintenance object.

Hi,

You can assign various PM orders to WBS element in IW31( Additinal Data Tab on Header ) and do the tracking.

you can also use PM order as subnetwork to a network activity.

Hi Maintenance project, scenario comes in PS where there is Shut down Maintenance activity is being carried out specailly for Oil & Gas, Petroleum, Heavey Chemical process industries..when the cost involvment is large and the same is planned mostly yearly maintenance as a part of Shut down of Plant. So, in that case industies is having very limited time and to complete the Maintenance work.( B'cue plants are under shut condition )

As PS mosule gives tight control over hierarchical distribution of budget, Date monitoring, detailed cost monitoring , Project progress. to get benefited with this all they assign maintenance order to WBS.

Maintenance order is one type of order which normally creaated against Technical objects i.e. Funcational Location / Equipment.

In this follow menu path

Plant Maint > Overview of Plant Maintenance > Plant Maintenance > Maintenance Projects

Maint. Projects are normally cost intensive projects. In Maint Projects only costs are collected.

For this you have to use Object Class as "OCOST Overhead".

Maint. Projects are normally settled on Cost Center.

You can create seprate project profile for maint projects. like

1) Special Maint Projects ( Heavy cost Expenditure maint activities Ex Strengthing of Dam's)

2) Normal Maint Projects ( Regular maint activities Ex. Compressor b/d )

What is the importance of Object Class. Does this have any other importance other than a criterion for Reports ?
