Hi

In a very simple manner

SE11 - Is used to create a table where we can store the data.

SE11 is just to create a table not to maintain the data.

SM30 - Is to maintain the data into the created table.

Thanks Sriram,

Does this mean SM30 is an alternate way of maintaining configration?(using IMG is the main way-right?)

Hi,

SE11 - This is used to view the structure, fields and technical attributes of a table. You can also view the table entries here.

SM30 - This is used to maintain the entries for different tables. However, you may not be able to access all tables here. You can only view/maintain tables for which maintenance screen has been generated. Views can be created using combination of two or more tables. All the node in IMG are associated with some views, which can be directly viewed from here, provided you have the name of the view.

Hope this helps.

Thanks VK - that helps

Besides, lots of times, this forum members respond with table names (instead of view names) for IMG related question. My question is, how to find if there are any views supported by SM30 for a table maintained thru IMG?

Thanks,

SM30 is used to access IMG config tables.

SE11 is used to access ABAP Dictionay for database tables.
