Dear Aadi,

In sap ps projects are closed by the following way

1) Technical Closure

2) Financial Closure

First you need to do the "Technical closing of the Project"

Menu Path for Setting TECO status:

CJ20N>Edit>Status>Complete Technically>Set

Technically completed (TECO)

Use

You use this status for WBS elements that are completed from a technical point of view, but where you still expect costs to accrue.

Prerequisites

The Created or Released status must have been set.

Features

In status technically completed, you can create new subordinate WBS elements (with a warning). The status is passed on to subordinate WBS elements.

The status allows

u2022 You to assign networks, production orders or CO orders to the WBS element.

u2022 You to post actual costs

u2022 You to transfer actual costs

You can cancel the technically completed status. In this case the system sets the Released status.

Secondly you need to do the "Financial Closing of the Project."

Menu Path for Setting CLOSE status:

CJ20N>Edit>Status>Close>Set

Closed (CLSD)

Use

You use this status for a work breakdown structure or WBS element which has been completed from both a logistic and an accounting point of view.

Prerequisites

You can only set the Closed status, if:

u2022 The project definition or the WBS elements have either the Released or the technically completed status.

u2022 There should be no cost in WIP, yet to be settled fully.

u2022 There should be no project stock for WBS element.

u2022 There should be no commitment against WBS element.

Features

In the Closed status you can no longer make any changes to the project hierarchy. The status is passed on to subordinate WBS elements.

The status allows

u2022 You to post actual costs to orders and networks that are assigned to the WBS element, as long as their status permit this

The status prohibits

u2022 You to assign networks, production orders or CO orders to the WBS element.

u2022 You from posting actual costs to the WBS element

You can cancel the Closed status. In this case the system sets the Technically completed status.

The system gives an error message if there exists, while setting close status.System will not allow you to close the project.

 Actual cost to be settled to WIP.

 Cost in WIP to be settled to Respective Cost Center.

 Open commitments.

 Project stock.

Also refer sdn thread "closing" which will give more higjhlight on Project Closing.Search this thread in SAP PS Forum

Hope its useful.
