Ok, you definitively want to read the RMAN documentation:

[http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/toc.htm]

> where this backup will be make its backup file?

You can configure this using the CONFIGURE command (obvious isn't it?).

If you did not change this, the default target location will be the "$ORACLE_HOME/dbs" or "%ORACLE_HOME%\database" folder

You can always display your current setup by using the

SHOW ALL

command.

> what is best time for this backup mean Offline or online?

Depends on what you want to do.

Since downtime is nothing you want to see for backups nowadays, I would consider online as the standard choice.

> May i stop SAP from sapmmc before run RMAN?

What for?

See, taking backups does not add value to your business (only having current backups does in case when a recovery is necessary).

Therefore you don't want to interfere too much with the business applications for taking backups.

By using RMAN you can accomplish that.

Take online backups, take incremental backups, validate the database - all this can be done online with RMAN.

It's not even necessary to use the BEGIN / END BACKUP commands anymore.

Well, finally to question is: why don't you just use the RMAN integration of the BRTOOLS?

With it you don't have to hassle around with all those command line stuff that isn't even integrated into the CCMS monitoring infrastructre.

Well, look and read the error message and think about it.

You're taking a full backup of your database.

RMAN writes this backup to the Oracle-Home folder (just as I wrote) to a file named "01KD1P1G_1_1".

Now you're getting a WRITE ERROR.

I would bet that the disk that Oracle-Home is on is just about full.

Either configure a different standard target folder or provide a target together with the "backup database" command or use the BRTOOLS.

Lars

Dear Lars;

why don't you just use the RMAN integration of the BRTOOLS?

How can i integrate RMAN with BRTOOLS?

Either configure a different standard target folder or provide a target together with the "backup database" command or use the BRTOOLS

mean if i change target folder then its change impacts would be show on both side(RMAN, BRTOOLS)

If I change any value then how i can set its default value like:

RMAN> show all;

RMAN configuration parameters are:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO REDUNDANCY 1; # default
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF; # default
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF; # default
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '%F'; # default
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET; # default
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # default
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF; # default
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128'; # default
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE; # default
CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO 'E:\ORACLE\IDS\102\DATABASE\SNCFIDS.ORA';
 # default

RMAN> CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF;

new RMAN configuration parameters:
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION OFF;
new RMAN configuration parameters are successfully stored

i have much knowledge regarding these topics and i will be very grateful to u if you guide me further.

> How can i integrate RMAN with BRTOOLS?

You do suffer from a bad allergy against documentation and sap notes, do you?

Otherwise you would have easily found notes like #420698 or the brtools documenation (help.sap.com!).

Just by searching for "BRBACKUP RMAN" in the upper right search box I got a whole lot of information.

> mean if i change target folder then its change impacts would be show on both side(RMAN, BRTOOLS)

No, the BRTOOLS always specify complete commands and thereby ignoring the default values.

Instead the settings from the BRTOOLS profile init<sid>.sap are used.

Otherwise it would make things so much more difficult.

> i have much knowledge regarding these topics and i will be very grateful to u if you guide me further.

Honestly I'd rather not teach you via this forum.

I pointed you to the right documentation - you've to read it yourself.

Otherwise you'll never know what the commands actually do.

sorry but <movie quote on> "I can only show you the door - you've to go through it yourself!" <movie quote off>.

try

rman target / (Remember to set environment variable ORACLE_SID)

or rman targer login/pwd@database

RMAN>show all;
