AL11 can't read DIR_TRANS though it has permissions at file level

I've just completed a system copy of our DEV system and am trying to do transports, but in the QA system AL11 can't read DIR_TRANS even though EVERYONE has FULL_CONTROL over the sapmnt directory. Specifically, I added FULL_CONTROL to SAPSERVICERQ2. Any thoughts?

I figured out what happened. Though the folder \usr\sap had all the correct permissions on it, the share sapmnt and saploc did not. In windows you can specify security for specific shares, and that's what I had to do.

Thanks all for yor input!

DIR_TRANS is /usr/sap/trans, not the sapmnt directory, so check the permissions for /usr/sap/trans..

also check if /usr/sap/trans is mounted or not, sometimes it does happen. and on which server it resides actually ? DEV or QA ?

thanks

- is that directory local or is it a network drive?

- can the user logon to the system where the physical files reside?

Hi,

Are you using common transport directory?

Check for the environment variable and sap profile parameter for DIR_TRANS under user <SID>adm.

Also check consistency of STMS or redistribute.

consistency should show you all trans directory file path.
