Manually activating background Job

Hello All,

I am in the process of doing client copy. Just now scheduled the Test Run(to know client size) in background mode.

But the problem am facing is, once the Job is in Released state, its not starting processing at the time specified. Simply the delay time is getting increase.

So can any 1 please let me know how to activate the Background Job Manually.

Also can you give an idea of what would be the problem with the Job for not going to Ready and Active state.

Hi Ravi,

As mentioned by you the delay is just increasing , that means the Client copy job is activated but waiting for a free Background workprocess.

As mentioned by other Admins you can

Increase the Background WPs count by operation mode switch.

Check the status from SM50 and try to make some Background WPs free.

Kindly check if this situation happens only for this Client copy which is scheduled in background or all the backgound jobs. If so how many parallel process are you selecting for Client copy ? Please reduce the number of parallel process and start the Client copy.

Hello Ravi,

If there are enough background processes free,then there is a strong possibilty that when you schedule the job,you have not selected Immediate start option and thats why the job is in release state and not starting immediately

what you can do is go to SM37,find the client copy job,select the job and in the options above,there is an option to start the job manually

This will start your client copy job

Hi,

It should be the problem due to the Background Work Process is not available. Increase your background job time being using operation mode. The job will start automatically.

Its because of all the BTC busy you have this problem

If possible increase the number of btc little more and try doing your client copy and replace back your old values once client copy finished

Hello Ravi

You can check sm50 and sm51 if any other heavy jobs are also running in the system or background processes are not free,may be this is the reason that this job is getting delayed. also check sm21 for any message

and once the job is released and getting delayed, i don't think, there is way to do anything like 'start now' for that job. you may opt to cancel this job and re-schedule

and this is happening only for this client copy job with some other jobs too ?
