Hi,

Yes, the product key code i.e. CR Key code as it is required to install the runtimes, also if you provide the key code in merge module then you do not have need to share the key code with any of your client.

Sincerely,

Amit

Thank You for getting back to me..The following is a better

explaination of what we need to know..

In our system we have designed several reports using your CR2008 product. We design these reports centrally and deploy them as part of our application. We are distributing only the report formats. Our clients will not be designing or modifying these layouts. (Our application is Windows workstation based u2013 not a client server system). Our question is; when our users want to VIEW these reports 1) will the runtime will need to be installed on each workstation; 2) what are the license requires for this scenario.

thank you in advance....

Hi,

1) will the runtime will need to be installed on each workstation;

Ans: For each windows application, you need to install the runtimes in each machine by yourself. You can include the runtimes in the deployment/setup package using Merge modules. Or, Install the runtimes in different machines separately using an exe generally called as Server install.

2) what are the license requires for this scenario.

Ans: Licensing policies are different for different types, please consult the sales team for more information.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

1. Runtimes include all the required dll's of Crystal Reports on the system where CR as a product is not installed, in order to run the reports.

2.With Windows applications CR .NET SDK is freely distributable in .NET Windows applications u2013 even when the application is sold to a third party.

For more info regarding license click [here|http://www.businessobjects.com/product/catalog/crystalreports/licensing.asp] Or [here|https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/licensekey]

Our licenses are only freely distributable if you are trying to deploy your application to a server. The one case where this is not true is if you are selling a web application.

I suggest you talk to the sales staff to clarify your issue though. You can contact them by calling +1 866 681 3435.

Hope this helps!!

Hi,

The Wiki is [here|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsforVisualStudio.NETRuntimeDistribution-Versions9.1to12.0] is currently the best resource for CR.NET Runtime information.

You can also take help from [Dev library|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/crsdk_net_dg_12_en.chm]

Hi,

You can include the merge modules in the InstallShield.

Note:- You need to provide the Key code while including merge module.
