I'm a basis administrator and i've received an error about a problem in a single workitem.
when i use TRX SWI1 and through the name of workitem i go in "Workflow chronicle".
Here i find all button in green status but in red the last two of them:

....
"green" service user -X Background work item created 15.04.2009 09:36:18
"red" service user -X SWW_BI_EXECUTE_S 15.04.2009 09:36:18
"red" service user -X Execution started automatically 15.04.2009 09:36:18
when i click on the red button on the left i have an error :
Work item <id workitem> currently locked by user WF-BATCH (that is the service user i suppose)
So the workflow status is now "ready" but is necessary to complete it .
Have you some idea about this problem?

no lock in sm12 but i have news about the problem...
the user now through the trx SWIA can process the workitem only if do the following thing:
after selecting the workitem....
by menu ...edit>workitem>execute without check and the workitem passes without problem....
If you do it in background you have the problem because , i suppose , that it does the check of the user with the Workitem and he has the "locked by user wf-batch".

You should ask your Workflow admin team to restart the Workflow for the particular item.
