Hi Experts,
Can anybody send me the link if possible the detail info of the installation for MDM Layout Server ?
Will it be possible to install on a Windows XP Professional Laptop which has to connect to MDM Server based on unix platform ?
Thanks for your help
Kind regards,
Wei Dona
Hi,
This is very interesting question and logically speaking you should connect to layout server this is where the concept of Platform Independent comes into picture.
You can also relate this with the MDM Server on Unix platform but can be accessed from the GUI clients i.e. windows platform.

Hi Jitesh,
Thanks for your reply.
For MDM 5.5 SP06 release, we have installed on unix platform for MDM Server/Import Server/Syndicator Server. As the MDMSP06 Installation Guide mentioned that the Layout Server is a seperate program that runs as a Windows Services, I guess that it would be also possible to install MDM 5.5 SP06 Layout Server based on Windows XP pro which has all the MDM Guis installed, am I right here ?
Thanks again for your help
Kind regards,

Hi Jitesh,
Thanks for your information.
I did try to install MDM Layout Server on my Windows XP professional Laptop with Publisher Gui.
And I could see that the services of the Layout Server has also been started.
When I opened Publish Gui and trying to connect to MDM Layout Sever, there were coming up with below error messages:
-
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error !
Program: c:\Program1\SAPMDM1.5\Layout~1\mdls.exe
R6025
- Pure virtual function call
-
Could you or anybody help to let me know what this message means?
I am now using MDM 5.5 SP06 on version 5.5.64.84 for MDM Server on unix platform.
Thanks very much for your help
Kind regards,
Wei Dona
Hi Wei ,
MDM Layout server mainly deals with the Publication features with MDM 7.1
You may find some inputs on the installation and working of the same in the below link:
