How to connect MII to eDNA?

Former Member

HI All,

Have you had any experience on connecting MII to eDNA, the historian of Instep? Learned from eDNA experts, eDNA support OPC, OLEDB and API.

If you have any experience, would you please kindly share it?

Thanks a lot.

BR, James

Hi Ram,

I had verified with specialist of INSTEP, who told me that eDNA is OPC compliant. However, I am not so sure... BTW, would you please clarify what does "You can use Matricon OPC Server for InStep eDNA that uses eDNA APIs and download XMII OPC-HDA UDS version from SAP service market place" mean?

Thanks & Regards,

James

James,

I don't know if anyone has done it but it would seem to me that the OPC-HDA UDS should work for eDNA. The OPC-HDA UDS is part of the 4.0 UDS's on Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com).

Here are some additional help links:

James,

I hope you would have got better understanding of your query with Jeremy's reply.

would you please clarify what does "You can use Matricon OPC Server for InStep eDNA that uses eDNA APIs ?

Matrikon provides Device Driver (OPC Servers) for various vendor specific shopfllor products (PLC, SCADA, DCS, Historian...) The OPC Server for eDNA is an HDA (Historical Data Access) server that uses the eDNA API to connect to multiple eDNA databases. It provides access to the following:

Service Directory Information ,eDNA Point Information ,Current Value Lists

Historical Information including Raw, Snap, Min/Max/Avg Values

download XMII OPC-HDA UDS version from SAP service market place" mean?

Please click on the link provided by Jeremy, here you can download the xMII UDS (facilitate the communicate between OPC server and XMII).

My thoughts

You can use Matricon OPC Server for InStep eDNA that uses eDNA APIs and download XMII OPC-HDA UDS version from SAP service market place.

Although InStep Software site claims "OPCServ" solution implements the OLE for Process Control (OPC) data access server.

If it is OPC compliant( you will have to verify first),you can directly use XMII OPC-HDA UDS (which acts as the OPC client).
